A parcel from London to Dublin posted first class normally arrives the next day as does a letter, this also applies to many large cities.
From other areas it may take an extra day and from the Orkneys to rural Ireland will take longer.
Larger parcels may be a little slower and couriers offer many different speeds of delivery.
1 to 14 days or more

The official answer to this is 1949, but the separation was more of an evolution. The land which makes up Ireland was partitioned on 3 May 1921. In 1922 the Irish Free State was made a dominion within the British Commonwealth, which came with a previously unrealized level of sovereignty. A new constitution in 1937 renamed the state as Ireland, and it began operating with increasing separation from the Commonwealth. In 1949 it became a completely sovereign nation, separate from both England and Wales. The treaty was signed by the British Government and Irish envoys on December 6th 1921 but was only enacted when it was ratified by the Parliaments of both countries in line with the treaty and received Royal assent on 6th December 1922founding the Irish Free State. It was founded as an autonomous dominion similar to Canada within the British Empire. Northern Ireland exercised it's option to withdraw from the state. It put a new constitution in place in 1937 also changing the name to Eire or Ireland in English and declared itself a republic in 1949 withdrawing formally from the British Commonwealth.1922In 1921 .

Ireland does not have postal codes. You would finish that address as: Bishopstown Cork Ireland. It will get there if posted. If an internet form is looking for a postal code for addresses in Ireland, use ie.
