First you must go to college and take pre-med classes - 4 years

Second you must go to medical school - 4 years

Third you must do a general surgery residency - 5 years

Fourth you must do a pediatric surgery fellowship - 2 years

Total - 15 years

some people have to do some research during their general surgery residency in order to apply for a pediatric surgery fellowship...may be 1-2 years more.

If you are asking how long the studies take to become a general pediatrician: In the US it takes at least 11 years after the completion of high school (secondary school). if you are talking about a pediatric surgeon, it takes at least 15 years after high school.
