Mollies are livebearers which means they give live birth. As most livebearers, the male has a gonopodium, which is an anal fin that is modified into a sexual organ. During spawning the male will insert it's gonopodium into the females vent, releasing sperm.

Given good conditions and plenty of food mollies can be mature enough to become gravid in 8-12 weeks from parturition. If you wish to avoid this happening then a close watch needs to be kept on the fry and any fish showing male bits needs to be removed before it can fertilise any females.

Since mollies can give birth directly with no long process it shouldn't take long to breed them a few weeks, a month and a half at most
