That is a loaded question. It is kinda like asking how long it should take to catch a ton of fish.... How big, how tall, with what and where and when. Vinyl siding is a lot faster than steel a shack is faster than a taja mahal and it goes a lot faster at 70 degrees than 20 below. in other words how much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck would chuck wood..

Varies greatly depending on size, location, cost, amount of workers, level of finish etc. etc. However, you should allow 6-9 months generally with a contractor and 9-12 months for a self build from my experience.

In Canada the avervage home should only take 5 months max. First month for permits and the next 3 to 4 months to build.

If you are talking about Sims 2 Castaway, here is the answer.

It takes around a day Sim Time to build one. Start with the roofs, then the entrances, windows, and finally the interior and exterior walls.

If you a trying to get to the Volcano Overlook, and are stuck at the Geyser Plains, I recommend you don't build a mansion bungalow. Instead, build a one room hut until you find the chisel...

There is a narrow path, leading up to where you will find a large rock (boulder). Round or walk around that area. Then, press circle (on a console) and check Tools. Look at the last tool. There should be a chisel. It cannot be used. Go to the boulder and inspect. Your Sim will get their chisel and push the boulder. It will fall on the geyser and you can pass!
