It depends on what kind of patch it is. If it is a bug-fix patch, then it should only take a few minutes to less than 20 minutes. If it is a content patch then maybe less than an hour. If it is a major content patch (pre-expansion/major content revision) expect it to take several hours. Of course this all depends on your internet connection and the amount of people trying to download the patch at the same time you are.

Official wow patches are applied automatically, there is no way you can NOT download the patch. If there is a patch available, the client will update itself. If you choose not to update, you will not be able to play.

download a new patch. you go to the page where you normally find the maplestory download stuff or sumthin, scroll down, and look for a wizet patcher.

Yes - DICE and EA laid the server backend work for the new maps and the patch about a week before the patch (ugh) was put in place.
Sometimes when you click on WoW, and log into your account it says new patch, and it loads to 100% then turns off WoW and opens a mini tab that shows the patch being downloaded.
