∙ 6y agoNot long. You are more softening it than cooking it. You still want lots of CRUNCH left in it.
Gordon Ramsay said it should be no longer then 4.5 minutes. Stick a fork in it to check softness. If it goes right through then its well cooked.
It depends on what you like, but you should steam fresh broccoli around 6-7 minutes to make it al dente.
