you can buy special shampoo at the pharmacy in New Zealand but it takes quite a long time. I mean i got them when i was 3 and i still have them. the maximum time takes about ten years or more (but that's only if you hardly really do anything to them) but if not then about 5-6 years.

Yes, they can drown. The reason why they don't drown easily is because they form air bubbles on the side of their body, like an underwater air pocket, and they also know how to swim well. I've looked at them under the microscope, and actually if you get rid of their air bubble, they die instantly.
