Dentists have it down to a fine art and they don't want your mouth frozen any longer than it has to be. Depending on what you have to have done the freezing could start to come out when you just leave the dentist's office or it may take 1 - 2 hours to completely go away. My sister-in-law had 4 front teeth pulled, two caps put in and a temperorary bridge and her freezing was out in 2 hours. Drink warm coffee or tea test the coffee/tea with you finger so you don't burn your lips. Warmth will help the freezing come out faster.
My dentist told me to stick to cold fluids, and my father told me to stay away from coffee and soda (because they are acidic).
