You can last 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. After a certain period of time your body will start to eat itself by converting muscle to food. You can lose up to half of you muscle before you must eat or you die.

Australian Aborigines are the only people who do not need salt in their diet. Westerners can get along without adding salt to their diet since there is usually some in foods and water. We add it because we like it not neccesarily because we lack it.
