4 years. Example: Dmitriy Medvedev was elected into office in 2008 and Vladimir Putin was elected into office in 2012.
Vladimir Putin, for all practical purposes "runs" the Russian Federation. Opposition to him is not seen. Putin has a heavy hand in controlling government.
4 years:)
Since May 7th.
Well first off was because Medvedev had supported Putin since the beginning and played a huge role in his presidential cabinet and as a friend. Also under Russian constitution you can't hold the presidential office for that long, you must wait another term under a different leader and then you can rerun again.
As of now, Vladimir Putin is considered Russia's most powerful leader, serving as both President and previously as Prime Minister. His long-standing influence over Russian politics, security, and foreign policy has solidified his position as the central figure in the country's governance. While Russia does not have a king or chancellor, Putin's role as President gives him significant authority and control over the state apparatus.
No, this did not happen. President Obama and Russian leader Vladimir Putin have a contentious relationship. Mr. Putin does not take orders from any other world leader, and prefers to do whatever he feels is in the best interests of Russia, whether other countries (including the US) agree with him or not. But since President Obama has long been a supporter of Israel, there is no reason why he would order any other country to send weapons to attack Israel.
The more care about Russia than Americans with their sanctions , nobody has taken . Practically Americans began fighting with Russian corruption . Ruble has fallen down ! Finally it becomes profitable to develop their own production . People have been waiting for this for a long time . Russian businessmen close their accounts abroad - excellent ! Capital outflow decreases day by day . Now we have to invest in Russia . It is very nice .President Putin signed a law about establishing a national payment system. The number of foreign companies, which want to enter the Russian market is increasing. In principle, the future prospects are very good.
He has been president for 4yrs
He was prime minister from 2008 to 2012 while constitutionally unable to hold the actual office of President. However, he exercised de facto executive power through his designate, Dmitry Medvedev, who was president in his place. Medvedev became prime minister in 2012 when Putin could again legally serve as president (the two having essentially swapped positions). Putin was acting president from December 31, 1999 to May 7, 2000. He was elected president in 2000 and reelected in 2004, serving until May 7, 2008. He was elected president in 2012, beginning a four year term on May 7, 2012.
Officially, Russia has a multi-party Presidential system with powers divided between Parliament (the Duma), the Prime Minister and the President. Also Russia constitutionally has an independent Judiciary branch. In practice, things work somewhat differently. The Duma mostly is a rubber-stamp Parliament dominated by the Party that the President has set up for the purpose, and opposition parties -such as there are - are a small minority in Parliament, have a very hard time getting any exposure on television or otherwise and their candidates are often harrassed by the authorities. The judiciary theoretically is independent, but historically has for centuries - up to and including today - been no more than an instrument of the ruler: Tsar, Communist leader or President. The real power today lies with the President, mr. Putin. Again in theory, he shares power with the Prime Minister. But in practice, mr. Putin has a cozy arrangement with his trusted ally mr. Metvedev who has been his Prime Minister for as long as mr. Putin has been President. In practice, mr. Metvedevs power can best be compared to that of the US vice-President: totally dependent on what the President allows him to do.
