Veterans Day began celebration after World War I along with holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day. Hostilities during World War I ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month of 1918. It is a federal holiday an shows respect and remembrance for those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
