People tried to fly in powered aircraft from about 1897 on. There were many attempts, usually ending in uncontrollable crashes and lasting only a few feet. Some people challenge the Wright's claim to have made the first successful flight, notably Gustav Whitehead in 1901.

A fruit fly will not lay eggs in humans because they would not be able to stay still on a human long enough. A human would get the fly off of them before they would have a chance to lay eggs.
