All planets have a different length of "day." Depending on whether or not you consider a day to be one full rotation. The lengths of days are as follows:

Mercury: 175.94 Earth Days.

Venus: 116.75 Earth Days.

Earth: 24 Hours

Mars: 24 Hours, 39 minutes, and 35.24 seconds

Jupiter: 9 Hours, 59 minutes, 33 seconds

Saturn: 10 hours, 32 minutes, 35 seconds

Uranus: 17 Hours, 14.4 minutes

Neptune: 16 Hours, 6.6 minutes

Pluto: 6 days, 9 Hours, and 17 minutes.

How long is a one day rotation for mercury?

One day (or one rotation around its axis) takes 1407.6 Earth hours.

How many rotation does mercury do in earth day?

88

Does mercury or Venus have very long periods of day and night due to rotation time?

No. But a solar day (sunrise to sunrise) is longer than its orbital period -- in fact it is exactly twice as long. Due to Mercury's 3:2 spin-orbit resonance, a solar day (the length between two meridian transits of the Sun) lasts about 176 Earth days. The orbital period around the sun is about 88 days.A sidereal day (the sidereal period of rotation), lasts about 58.7 Earth days.

What is a mercurian year?

It takes 87.96 Earth days make one Mercury year. At the same time, Mercury's days are very long though because it has a very slow rotation. 1 Mercury day is equal to 58.7 Earth days.

Compare the period of revolution between mercury and neptunewhat is the ratio between their period of rotation and why?

Revolution and rotation mean two different things. The period of Revolution is how long a planet takes to orbit the Sun, and is commonly known as a Year. So the first part of what you are asking is to compare the lengths of a year on Mercury and Neptune. 1 Mercury Year = 88 days = 0.24 Earth Years. 1 Neptune Year = 165 Earth Years. So if we compare them we get 0.24/165 = 688 so the Neptunian Year is about 688 times the length of the Mercury Year. The period of Rotation is how long a planet takes to turn on its axis and is commonly known as a day. 1 Mercury Day* = 58.65 Earth Days. 1 Neptune Day = 19.1 Earth Hours. If we compare the two, we get 58.65 days/19.1 hrs = 73.7. So a Mercury Day is 73.7 times longer than a Neptune Day. Why? Because of their orbits and their speed of rotation. * some sources quote a different length of a day on Mercury

Year: 88 Earth days. Rotation period (sidereal day): 58.6 Earth days. Solar day: 176 Earth days.

How long does it take mercury to complete one revolution?

Mercury completes one revolution in about 88 Earth days. This is due to its slow rotation. Mercury is a terrestrial planet that is the nearest to the sun. A day on Mercury is about 58.5 Earth days.

How long does it take for one rotation on mercury's axis?

It takes about 59 Earth days (58.66 days) for Mercury to make one rotation. However, its "day" is extended due to the extremely short orbital period of 88 Earth days : a "sunrise to sunrise" solar day is 176 Earth days long (2 Mercury years). This is the source of the saying "On Mercury, a day is twice as long as a year."

Which planet has a day more than half as long as its year?

Mercury's "sidereal day" is about 59 Earth days long and its year is about 88 Earth days long. Venus has a "solar day" of about 117 Earth days and a year of about 225 Earth days.
