A one-year old dog is probably as mature as a 13-year old person. The 'seven-years to one' rule is a load of old hogswoggle until a dog is middle aged. A dog aged five has the same maturity as a 36-year-old.

∙ 12y agoOkay, So Your Dog Is One Human Year Old, Therefor Being 7 Dog Years Old. The Trick Is Times Each Human Year By Seven, E.G: If A Dog In Human Years Is 4, It Would Be Around 28 In Dog Years. Dogs Normally Live To The Age Of Twelve In Human Years. Hope This Helps. :)

∙ 13y agoVeterinarians use this formula: When a dog reaches one year of age, it is like 21 in human yeas - it is a young, but fully grown adult. Thereafter, each year of a dog's life is equivalent to 4 years of human life. So, a five year old dog is 21+4+4+4+4 or 37 in human terms.
