Michigan allows a 6-month redemption period after the house goes to Sheriff's Sale, also known as foreclosure auction. The owner of the foreclosed house can continue to live in the house during that time. At the end of the six-month period, the bank expects the owner to move out and will serve an eviction notice if the owner is still in the house.
At the discretion of the lender, a house can be foreclosed after a period of missing payments.
You can live in the house 6 months after the Sheriff sale. This is called the redemption period.
When the bank foreclosed on the house, they took it back. Now it's time to move out.
depending on your state. In Minnesota, you have a 6 month redemption period and if your not out by than or have not reclaimed your property, the mortgage company will have to evict you and that is another process which can take 30 or more days.
No, I can't
Yes you can
You can contact the lender or lien holder who foreclosed on the property and make your offer to them.
No the bank owns the house.
You said you are in redemption right now, so I'm assuming Alabama is a state that has a right of redemption law. Usually, you are allowed to keep living in your home during redemption, and any time during that period you can buy your house back for the price it sold for at foreclosure. If you were only a month behind, perhaps your financial situation is such that this is an option for you. If so, get in touch with the bank immediately.
