By broader end you mean the bell. Its the amplifier. Just like when you cup you hand around your ear and the sound becomes directional, the bell on the trumpet works the other way round and forces the sound to all be directed into one small(er) area. Imagine a candle. It glows and all around the room you have a dim glow. Now imagine a candle and you put a concave mirror behind it. The glow becomes a bright spot on the wall. You still have the same amount of brightness but you are using it all in one location so it is more intense. The bell works in the same way as the concave mirror by focusing the sound and thereby making it appear louder.
A natural trumpet is a trumpet with no valves, and a fanfare trumpet (also known as a Herald Trumpet) is a trumpet that is long. In other words, the tubing is not wound, but straight, so the trumpet is several feet long.
Not really. The piccolo trumpet was invented in 1890, long after the Baroque and Classical periods in which the "standards" for instruments in an orchestra would have been set. Even modern orchestras generally do not use a piccolo trumpet unless a particular piece calls for it.

I found that the trumpet has been in since 1500 BC
very early forms were long tubes with interchangerble lengths added to the mouth piece
I take it that the quarter was dropped into the bell end of the trumpet. If you haven't tried to dislodge it by poking at it with a long stick, coat hanger or other means, you may be able to un-stick it by using a hair dryer to heat the bell where the quarter is stuck. After heating for a couple of minutes, thump the bell against a carpeted floor or other cushioned surface. If it doesn't come out on the first try, allow everything to cool about 30 minutes and try again. Hope this helps!

Anyone can benefit by playing the trumpet, as long as you learn the notes and fingerings. I play the trumpet myself for about a year and it has opened many doors of opportunity.
You should put a comma after "instrument" to separate the two independent clauses in the sentence: "My favorite instrument, the trumpet, has a long history."
