The most acceptable type of notice is thought to be two weeks. It doesn't matter if you are paid monthly or weekly, it is courteous to give at least two weeks notice.

What period of notice should you give if you wish to leave your job?

It depends on the company you work for - and your pay period. The 'norm' is at least a week.. However - if you're paid monthly - you would be expected to give a month's notice.

When giving notice of your resignation what is the standard length of time to give an employer before leaving?

If you are hourly/weekly paid, then give a weeks notice. An employee in a factory would give this length of notice. An office worker, on a monthly salary, would probably give a month's notice. A lot depends on the terms and conditions of your employment.

What is a 7 day notice in England?

Debt : A court appointed bailiff can issue a "7 day notice of removal", giving you that amount of time to settle the debt (usually rent arrears on a rented property) or face eviction from the premises. Employment : Unless stated in your contract of employment, termination notice is determined by the pay interval. If you are paid weekly, then you only need to give one weeks notice. If you are paid monthly, then you have to give one months notice.

Can a employer legally withhold wages in Ohio for not giving a quitting notice?

Ohio may be different, but the general principle is that you should give (or get)one pay period as notice. If you are daily paid, one days notice is required. Weekly paid, one weeks notice. If you disappear without notice, which has the fancy term "absconding" your chances of getting paid in full are slim. The employer can deduct the wages for the notice period that you were supposed to give - that is, the pay period before you disappeared.
