As a rule fillings should last 5-10 years, but many things can affect that prognosis. A small silver filling could last for decades, but most tooth colored fillings will fail within 10 years under good conditions. Ask yourself how long a car should last. If you use it properly and follow recommended maintenance there are cars that have a million miles on them, but race cars are rebuilt every few days. I hope that this helps.

It dosent hurt at all afterwards because they numb your jaw so you dont feel anything while your getting the filling or after you get it. By the way when the dentist numbs your jaw yo dont feel anything either. (I should know i have had about seven.) Hope this helps.

There are too many factors to answer this question accurately. Silver filling are known to last from just a few years to many decades. If you live long enough, all fillings will eventually have to be replaced. Nothing lasts forever.

Fillings need time to harden for several hours after being placed, so the patient should chew food on the opposite side of the mouth for the first day.

How long do you cook cherry pie?

All the chocolate cream pies I've made started by cooking the crust with no filling, cooking the chocolate filling separately and then filling the pie. The whole thing is then chilled so the filling sets. So you don't actually cook the pie. The shell cooks for about 10 minutes, the filling cooks about 10 minutes.

Is it dangerous if a dental filling that you have had for decades containing mercury amalgam falls out?

No. There is very little mercury in a filling. A white filling will have more shrinkage with time which will cause them to need to be replaced, long before a silver filling. But you should get the tooth fixed right away.
