How long does it take to remove a steering column on a 1989 Cadillac Deville
Behind the steering wheel, you have to take off the plastic housing off of the steering column and it will be on the top behind the multifunction switch ... it's kinda long and square.. Pull the rubber plugs surrounding the turn signal switch arm and windshield wiper switch arm. Remove the two screws from the bottom of the steering column. There are clips built into the sides of the steering column housing top and bottom halfs that hold it together. You can use a long, skinny, flat screw driver to help separate the clips and the houseing will come apart. Lift the top steering column cover up off the hazard lights button and there will be the turn signal flasher unit.
grinding means the bearings inside steering column are worn out go to a steering column specialist to have them replaced if you leave it to long, you will also need new shaft in column, then the cost will go up by about 400 bucks
Remove the lower dash panel and steering column cover. Disconnect all harnesses going to the column. There is a metal bracket attached to the steering column with brass-colored bolts, and attached to the underside of the dash with chrome-colored bolts. Remove only the chrome bolts. They're fairly long. Once completely removed, the entire steering column will drop slightly. Now pull back the plastic boot from the bottom of the steering column and look for the small bolt securing it in place. I believe it is 11mm. Loosen the bolt only enough for the column to slide out.
This is a 1 inch long rectangular tab on the steering column.
should be listed as hazard in the fuse block The Flasher is a silver cylinder about 1 1/2 inches long located under the steering wheel column on the right side,to access it youll have to remove the panel under the steering wheel.

It does not matter on that year as long as it is power steering fluid.
Maybe... as long as the hardness plug wire are the same . I would say yes. But if they don't match then I would say no.
Its been a long time but the flasher hangs in the wiring harness under the dash to the left of the steering column
As long as the 1988 steering wheel is not air bag equipped it should work fine. I'm not sure what year air bags become manditory equipment in Chevy trucks. To be sure do a spline count of both steering wheels. You may need to use the hardware to attach the steering wheel to the column from the 1988. Usually just a nut/bolt; washer, and some kind of snap ring.
