Probably the same - if you are in the usa just use a stamp like you would to use for a letter. You could do that, but in march of 2009, it only cost 27 cents to mail a postcard. Why pay almost double when you don't need to?

First class mail in the US takes 3 to 5 days from state to state or even locally. There are many places where it goes into the next state and can be delivered the same or next day after mailing.
It is the same as it is in the states. We are a US Territory and we use the USPS with the same rates for letter/postcard. Or Zone 7 for Priority Mail.
The same reason that Americans put stamps on postcards. Too mail the postcard!

Some good reason for the same basic postcard template are to make it simple and easy to recognize. The other reason is the postcard was a cheap things.
