Being a feral is not a stage in a cat's life, a feral cat is a cat that is wild and lives without humans, possibly in colonies with other feral cats. A tame cat is a cat that lives with humans. Tame cats do not have to become ferals.

YES! They sure can. It takes alot of time and trust but it is most definitely possible. I own 11 cats and every single one of them was a feral cat. It is best to get them as young as possible (8 weeks old) as these cats are the easiest to train. You might need to use a live trap and gloves for the first week as they are very wild. But I have tamed 2 year old cats who were also feral and they are completely domesticated and love people now. I recommend getting them spayed/neutered and all of their shots if you are planning on keeping them, it is much easier to tame them when they fixed and free of illnesses and disease.

I have had an 8 month old feral mother spayed 3 day ago. She's moved her two 5 week old kittens from my property but does return several times during the day for food, acting like she's starving and gorging her food down, then leaves. Is she possibly regurgitating the food for her kittens? Is she maybe trying to wean them? She doesn't seem to have gained any weight..

Will a feral cat come back to their kittens if you touch them?

I'm not absolutely sure, but queens (cats nursing kittens) often feel a great sense of motherhood when their young is still small; it really depends on the age. As in many other things, feral cats do behave differently to domestic cats, but I'd still say that they would come back if they knew you were handling them; especially if you're being rough.

What helps a mother cat produce milk for her kittens?

Cats nurse kittens until the kittens are about four or five weeks old. At this age, kittens begin to wean and are able to eat soft kitten food. The mother cat's teets will dry and retract slightly. The only true way to tell if a cat is still nursing kittens is through observation.

You want your cat to have kittens at least once so what is the safest age to do this?

WHY do you want your cat to have kittens? Please don't! There are Thousands of cats and kittens euthanized each year in the USA because of overpopulation. It is a myth that cats are healthier or happier if they have had a litter. Please spay her. Even if you find homes for the 7 or so kittens she has that is 7 cats or kittens elsewhere that will not find home and will be killed.

Can kittens live on the mother cats milk only for ten weeks?

Most kittens wean well before 10 weeks of age. Some kittens start to take an interest in their mother's food around 4-6 weeks, although some can take longer. Weaning is a gradual process and often takes several weeks. However, a healthy 10-week old kitten should not be on the mother's milk alone; by this age the kittens need extra sustenance and nutrients. The majority of the time, kittens are fully weaned from mother's milk and can be taken from their mother around 12 weeks.

What age can cats have kittens until?

Cats remain fertile all their lives or until they are spayed/neutered. If you do not want kittens, the only 100% guaranteed way to avoid their conception is to spay/neuter your pets.
