If the temperature calls for 400 degrees for 50 minutes, it should be baked that way. However, if the temperature is set to 350 instead of 400, it should be baked for 50 minutes and then checked every few minutes until it is done so it does not get over-baked.
there is no set formula...it is a test as it goes. after one hour, check to see if it's ready...and check every 15 minutes after that until you feel it is done. if it's base is potatoes (shepards pie or scalloped potatoes, etc) then if the potatoes are soft then it's done...if it's meat, poultry, etc , make sure it's cooked (or perhaps use a thermometer). with cooking it at a lower temperature then is specified, you could run into problems...liquids don't evaporate like they should, doesn't cook the dish at the same rate in all spots, or it will become too dry from being cooked too long, even though it's at a lower temperature.
It will depend on what you are cooking and its shape. The length of time and temperature will also affect how brown things get and how dried out they will end up. A short high temperature cooking time will not dry things out s much as a long slow lower temperature cook.
Also, a short high temperature cook may not penetrate and cook the centre of a large object like a big loaf or cake or a big roast. So a slower lower cooking time will be needed.
Bread rolls are often cooked at a higher temperature and for a shorter time than a loaf for this reason.
I typically find that the difference is not exactly linear. something like thick crust Pizza baked for 15 minutes at 450 has to be baked 25 minutes at 400 or almost 40 minutes at 350. If the recipe calls for 450 use 450 if you can. If not check it after 40 minutes and again every 5 minutes until it's done. Lower temperatures often makes baked foods more chewy or less crispy.
Intriguing question. Most things cooking at 400 degrees are doing so for a good reason. Usually removing a lot of water or moisture and browning the outside of your dish. If 350 is all you can get I would add another 10 to 15 minutes, but check the center of the dish for doneness with a cooking thermometer.
You don't want to do that. You'll burn the outsides. Probably about 15-30 minutes longer.

Depending on the specific recipe, an apple strudel might be baked for as few as 30 minutes to as many as 45 minutes. Temperatures also vary from 350 degrees Fahrenheit to 475 degrees Fahrenheit.
if a pie recipe calls for it to bake at 400 for 50 minutes, can you bake it at 350 for longer?
They're boiled first. Then you bake them a little to brown them. One method calls for 45 seconds of boiling after bagels are shaped, then a quick rest and brushing with egg, followed by baking for 35 minutes. See recipe below for full details.
Different cookie recipes require different cooking times and temperatures. Many familiar cookies, such as chocolate chip cookies, bake 8 - 10 minutes at 350 degrees F. But one should always follow the recipe for the cookies one is baking.
Depends on the recipe. Usually 15 to 20 minutes. Times will be on the box.
Bake covered at 350 degrees for 10 minutes in oven. Bake another 6-10 minutes uncovered until fish flakes.
10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.
Least 40 minutes on 475 degrees.
If you bake them in an oven at 400 degrees, it takes 45 minutes to one hour. In a microwave, it takes about 7 minutes. In a toaster oven, it would take 20 minutes.
The site in related links has a recipe for a huff paste that calls for a water and flour mixture that you put all over the meat and then bake it
Baking is an exact type of food science that requires precise measurements of ingredients, time, and heat. If you want to cook something at 375 degrees what was originally supposed to bake for 30 minutes at 450 you would need to bake it for 60 minutes at 375.
There are so many different types of food you could bake with. Whatever the recipe calls for is what pan you should use.
