Arthritis itself wont kill you however it can weaken you to a point where some other ailment can do you in. one of the treatments for Arthritis involves weakening your immune system for instance.

Arthritis can shorten your life by up to 5 years on average depending on the severity of the problem, the side effects of the drugs involved in treatment. and the affect of infections and other physical problems the disease can bring about. Aside from having to put up with a lot of discomfort it will actually not have a big effect on your chances of survival. You must however keep in mind that there are over a 100 different form of arthritis and some of these can bring about serious health problems.

That is a difficult question as it depends on what type of arthritis you have. without treatment it can last as long as you live. or it can deform a joint and fix it to a point where it will no longer move which means there is no more pain from it.
