First very first examples actually did use stamped steel construction, although the methods at the time were crude, and proved to be insufficient. Thus, the AK47 reverted to a milled steel receiver. In the late 1950s, when steel stamping methods had improved, an effective stamped receiver was manufactured, and adopted as the standard in 1959.

The AK-47 has been manufactured in a variety of countries. It was firstdesigned and built by Mikhail Kalashnikov in the Soviet Union(present day Russia).Correct answer would be NO Mikhail Kalashnikov and the Russians did NOT make the AK47 they stole both the weapon and it`s blueprints from the Germans when occupying Germany. As always the truth shall prevail. There should have NO SPECULATION for: who designed KALASHNIKOV?AK-47 means: Avtomat Kalashnikov 1947.It would be an insult to the rifle itself and an unfair judgment to Mikhail Kalashnikov (the designer). There are hundreds of links that can prove the authenticity. Here is one, which can be trusted for. See the link pls.
Mikhail Kalashnikov designed the AK47 rifle. If, at any point, he had designed it for a larger cartridge (which there is no indication that he did), then it would have been because he had begun the design before the requirement was made that his design utilize the 7.62x39 cartridge, which was first used in the SKS rifle.
