in medieval times castle each family sleeps in one bed. If you are one of the rich people the bed would be very big but if you were the paysans it would be a little small.

They had one bed right at the front of the room Then at the back of the room they would have 4 to 5 dresser for the sides of the rooms there would be shelfs full of books full info on different tyes of stuff [normally the rooms were in a rectangle shape].

Tile does not have to be laid the same way in two different rooms. Having said that, if the two rooms join each other the tile really should be laid in the same fashion in both to avoid looking esthetically incorrect.
