Alright. there were no actual soldiers of the Aztec empire. during the celebration they had. (The Aztecs thought they were gods because they had horses). But in the death toll there were almost 300,000 thousand people who had died. only 25 of Cortes 1000 men had died. Of course the Aztecs were defeated.
Why?
600 Conquistadors landed in Mexico, but Cortes gained troops as he marched to Tenochtitlan
Cortes had many advantages over the Aztecs. He had guns, steel armor, and help from the natives that the Aztec had conquered. He also, unknowingly spread diseases that Europeans had immunities for but Aztecs did not.
Several tribes, especially in the coastal areas had suffered badly by the Aztecs. And they welcomed the chance to go against them. Cortes did not have to do much convincing. After defeating one tribe known as being very fierce, even the Spaniards were outnumbered one to 40, many tribes just offered themselves as allies to Cortes. Also he had the great help of a very intelligent native woman, the Malinge.
She was able to translate and help overcome the many struggles that Cortes had faced when confronted by many Indians especially in the beginning of the conquest. She helped to pursuade many tribes into peace and not fight against Cortes because he just wanted peace.
By the end of the war, nearly 180,000 former slaves had enlisted in the army and fought against the Confederacy.
around 1000
In the battle between the Aztecs and Hernan Cortez, it is said that 1,000 soldiers (due to religious reasons) were forced to fight.
They fought many battles but were finally defeated by Cortez and the conquistadors in 1521
Cortes found allies against the Aztecs among the many conquered and oppressed Central American tribes. They were happy to help, as the Aztecs had a habit of taking war prisoners and sacrificing them to the gods, as well as forcing conquered enemies to pay ridiculously high tributes, which were sort of like taxes.
A Lot
The Aztecs didn't attack Cortes and his men at first because they did think that he was a god. But after Cortes captured the priest or leader, he masacured many Aztecs and conquered their land.
The Aztecs fought with many tribes, including the Texlacans, the Huaxtec, the Purempecha, Mayans, and the spanish conquistadors

The Tlaxcalan rulers saw the Spanish (i.e., Cortes) as a possible ally against the Aztecs, and Cortes won over the leadership and was careful about what areas he claimed. He even convinced many elders and leaders to convert to Catholicism. An exchange of gifts was made, and an alliance was formed.
The Indians helped Cortes as many of them harbored a s trong dislike for the Aztecs.
He believed Cortes was Quetzalcoatl; therefore he revered Cortes as a God. That "little" mistake cost Montezuma his own life, as well as the lives of many more Aztecs.
3.5 million Aztecs were killed by smallpox brought by the Europeans when Cortes (Cortez) found Mexico. After the Aztecs contracted it from a Spanish solider, which had contracted it from an African Slave
