It depends on how you encode the music. I encode my songs to 64 kbs WMA but some people with a good ear for music find that too low quality and 128 kbs is considered the minimum encoding. 256 might be needed if you have a very good ear for music. At 128 kbs you will fit 300-400 songs on a 1GB player. At 64 kbs twice that number and 256 kbs only 150 or so.

Hi, This is a tricky question buddy... It all depend on the average file size of the songs. The file size depends on duration of quality of songs. Normally for a 5 minute song we ll have 5-6 MB(Good Quality...Note: Not Best!) 1 GB = 1024 MB 1 GB can fit = 1024/5.5(average) so 1 GB = 186 Songs!(Approx) But if ur talking abt MP3 Player the Player itself takes abot 50 MB for storing other relevent data. So in a MP3 player of 1 GB you can store around 170 songs I hope i made u clear :) :) Bala.

How many audio files can be stored on 4 gb flash drive?

The quantity of audio files stored on a 4GB flash drive depends on the file format, the quality of the recordings and the length of each file. Some commonly used formats are wave, mp3, and midi. Each format stores the information needed to recreate the sounds using a different method, because of this the same sound recorded using different formats can vary quite a bit in how much room it takes up on your flash or other drive. Another major factor in determining how many files is file compression. If you use a file compressing program such as Win-zip, or 7zip to compress the files on your flash drive you can usually store about twice as many files, however the files usually can't be read by a music player until they are decompressed.

Is there a way to make a flash drive not rewritable?

Flash drives are rewritable, and items can be put on and off numerous amounts of times, with no end. The whole point of the flash drive is to transfer files from one computer to another, unlike the CD which is not rewritable and can only be burned once, and must pay for another one for another file.
