The question makes statements about the Mormon Church but asks a question that is impossible to answer.
The outcome of an election, based on a popular vote is not a good reason to question a religion, whether it be Mormon, Christian or any other. In any election, all but one will be unsuccessful. There are many examples of several Christian candidates competing for a single office. The fact that a Christian does not win an election does not cause a rethink of the religion any more than Mitt Romney's loss at the 2012 presidential election should cause a rethink of the Mormon religion.
However the Mormon Church will react to the outcome is a matter for the church and not for others to debate.
-Another Answer-
Mitt Romney is a humble, God fearing man that made a decision on his own to run for president of the United Sates. For Romney, it was not about him. It was about what he could do for his country. He felt that his experience would serve the people. Romney was not predestined or foreordained from God to run. He received no vision. It was simply a decision.
Jesus was in God's favor when He was on the earth, but he still was crucified and hung on a cross. Does that make his message fake or not true? Moses failed to lead his people into the promised land for 40 years. Was Moses a false prophet? Was Job not loved of God because of the trials he had to endure? All things happen in God's time and in His way.

Seriously???? It was a trail, and Mormons traveled on it, and they were pioneers.
The Mormons were hoping to find the freedom to practice their religion in peace and without persecution.
No. Mormons aren't embarrassed. Most Mormons don't even live in the US and therefore didn't really pay much attention to the presidential election. There are also hundreds of thousands (if not a million or more) Mormons who supported Barack Obama in the election. Having someone who happens to be a member of the same religious denomination as you lose a presidential election is not embarrassing. I, as a Mormon, certainly don't feel embarrassed, nor do I know of any other Mormons who feel embarrassed. The general feeling among Mormons who supported Romney is disappointment, but happy that he had a great campaign. Church leaders have asked all Mormons to congratulate President Obama on his victory and to pray for him and all other government leaders.
The Mormons were searching for a place where they could practice their religion in peace and found that place in Utah.

If they don't like Mormons, you would probably call them "bigots". If they don't like the teachings of the Mormon religion, you would call them 'Anti-Mormons'.
