Seeing as the USA didn't enter the war until the last month of 1941, after the Pearl Harbour attack on December 7th of that year, the number of US SOLDIERS killed in 1941, will be quite small. Now if you ask about US Sailors killed, the number will be higher, as the Japanese attacked US NAVY ships and dockyards on December 7th, primarily. You do know the difference between sailors and soldiers, don't you?

After the attack on Pearl Harbor there were 2,403 people who had been killed - 68 were civilians so - 2,335 soldiers - I am not sure how many would have been involved with the RAF (Royal Airforce) but there should be some casualties as well. The original question talks about AMERICAN SOLDIERS that died in 1941. Soldiers don't fly air planes, and they don't sail on NAVAL ships. Yes there were a FEW ( About 30 ) American volunteer PILOTS in the RAF, but they weren't SOLDIERS, were they???

Sorry, Jim, but in 1941, soldiers in the US Army Air Corps flew planes since there was no US Air Force, and the US ARMY Air Base, Hickham Field, was also attacked by the Japanese on December 7. Even though the US Air Force was established in 1947, the Army still has an Air Corps and the Navy and Marines each have their own air forces.
