At the Tomb of the Unknowns there are exactly one soldier from World War One, World War Two (European Theater) World War Two (Pacific Theater), and Korea. At one point there was an unknown soldier interred here from Vietnam, but he was eventually identified via relative DNA.
It is somewhat comforting to know that, due to DNA recording, no American military member will ever again die an unknown in combat.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier contains the remains of one unidentified soldier. It was deliberately ensured that a chosen dead soldier should remain unknown, as to represent all those forces who have no known grave,
There are no actual bodies buried at that site. It is only a memorial.

The first unknown soldier was said to be buried in "The Tomb of The Unknowns"(there were more unknown soldiers that died and were buried in the same tomb, I won't say what it was called before that because some school teachers request this for homework) :P
An estimated 93,000 were killed in action and certainly there had to be thousands buried as unnamed individuals.
There are only three soldiers buried in the Tomb of the Unknown. One each from WWI, WWII and Korea. The unknown from Vietnam was removed when DNA identified him.

Technically, those who died on the U.S.S. Maine were sailors and marines, not soldiers. 229 of them are buried at Arlington.
