William Shakespeare's Roeo and Juliet has five acts:

Act One introduces the downtrodden Romeo in his depression over being turned down by another woman named Rosaline. At the same time, Juliet's parents are discussing arranging a marriage for her. Later in the act, Juliet and Romeo meet for the first time at her parent's party.

Act Two is where the Friar decides that the relationship between Romeo and Juliet may end the fued between their families. However, the fight is growing more tense when Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, challenges Romeo to a duel. At the end of the act, Romeo has not received the summons to the duel, but instead marries Juliet.

Act Three begins with Romeo's Best Friend, Mercutio, fighting for him in the streets with Tybalt. Romeo attempts to stop the fight, however Tybalt remains undistracted and uses the attempt to fell Mercutio. Romeo in his rage at his fallen friend, advances on Tybalt and wins the duel when he fells Tybalt. For the murder, Romeo is banished from the kingdom (a light sentence). Before he leaves, he spends his light night in Verona with Juliet.

Act Four begins with Romeo leaving Juliet and Verona. Afterwards, Juliet learns of the arranged marriage her parents had set for her with a man named Paris. Without explaining that she is already wed to Romeo, she attempts to call the wedding off. When her parents refuse, the desperate Juliet returns to Friar looking for help.

He offers her the chance to fake her death by giving her a sleeping draught that will make her appear dead for some time. After she wakes up, she can sneak out of Verona to reunite with Romeo and miss her arranged wedding.

Act Five visits Romeo again. However, he had NOT received the Friar's letter explaining that Juliet is faking her death. Instead, a friend who beleives she is truly dead goes to Romeo in person and tells him Juliet has passed on. The heartbroken and banished Romeo decides to return to her tomb o kill himself.

When Juliet wakes up to find him dead, she realises she is now widowed and trapped in a life she does not want, and also slays herself.

The death of their children brings the fight into perspective for their families. The decide they will no longer fight, but instead try to behave mutually for they have both lost their heirs.
