You have to see all the heart events to marry a girl. Black, purple, blue and yellow. But you have to see all the colours to activate those events.
Black, purple, blue, green ,yellow ,orange and red. Once at red you can propose.
By second heart event I assume you mean purple? Well, she needs to have a purple heart color or above for the event to activate so keep giving her gifts until it changes.
