Well as The Rock used to say Millions and Millions.
They were not kept in a zoo they were simply kept in cages.

the colosseum was used for entertainment by Gladiators fighting Gladiators or Gladiators fighting animals........i think sorry im not 100% sure :(
That really depends on the religion. If the animals are being treated well and are not being harmed than I do not believe most religions would have a response. Animals have been used for work and entertainment for the entire history of mankind and the biggest moral outcry is typically that they be treated well and not deliberately harmed during the process. However a few religions do not allow animals to be used for anything at all, but these are comparably rare.
Puppets are used primarily for entertainment. Puppets can be used for all ages, from infants to kids to adults. They have been a popular form of entertainment for many years.
Sea World is in the entertainment industry. They have theme parks that are used to entertain people with their sea animals.
Lions and tigers were used as entertainment for the crowds in the Roman Coliseum. They were pitted against humans and other animals because of their strength and ferocity.
Wow. What an interesting project idea! I think the broad categories are: They are used as work-mates [teams of oxen pulling plows, etc; horses used by drovers, mounted police, etc]; they are used for research of many kinds; they are used for food; they are used as pets; they are used for science/enrichment/entertainment at zoos, aquariums, etc. There may be other categories I am missing. You could do some research on these and really get a good picture of how we relate to animals in general. There are just a few of many possible topics/sites dealing with animals below. Go for it!
Animals are used for public entertainment in zoos, aquariums, and circuses because of human greed. For the same reason, animals are also confined, displayed, and forced to perform degrading tricks that run counter to their natural instincts in other venues, including:Marine parks, where captive marine mammals are doomed to a life of confinement, deprived of normal social and environmental interaction.Roadside zoos and aquariums, where many animals are bored, cramped, lonely, and unable to perform normal social behaviors. Many zoos still sell off older and "surplus" animals who may end up in roadside menageries, breeding facilities, circuses, or even as "game" in canned hunt facilities.Movie and television sets, where animals are used to sell products and services, and to boost the profits of studios and production companies. Animals used in filming have been mistreated, injured, or even killed on set.Animals are also exploited and mistreated for human entertainment in horse and greyhound racing, cockfighting and dog fighting, and in shopping malls, fairs and schools where they are put on public display or even brought in as rides, like elephant or camel rides. Exotic animals are often used in photo opportunities, or are shot and killed in canned hunts or on hunting ranches.
