You can start an 18 wheeler with 3 batteries, but if the semi sits for 2 days or more it may not start, that is why they require 4 batteries, that forth battery will help start the engine even after a week of sitting, the reason for this, is because the ECM is always pulling power from the batteries.
you may need 2 to 4 batteries this depends on how the batteries are installed, but at the bottom end it takes 24 volts to turn starter motor
A 2004 Mercedes E500 has 1 battery to power the vehicles accessories and to start the engine. Some cars like the Toyota Prius have 10 to 15 batteries as they are powered by electricity.
My 19791979house Monaco on a chevy g30 chassis has 3 total batteries. 2 in the engine bay, 1 is for the engine and 1I for the rv. Then the 3rdmower battery is on the side compartment for the generator.
Depends on the make, model, engine size, and year which you fail to list.
Varies by make and model of engine. Typically, it's in the ballpark of 11 gallons.

An AA battery is a 1.5 volt battery so if you connected 8 together in series you would have the 12 volts, but you would have no where near the amount of amps necessary to turn the engine over. You could connect several packs of 9 AA batteries connected in series together in parallel and eventually get enough to start the engine. I would estimate you would need 20 packs for a total of 180 batteries.
