The latter in fact is home to the island's two indigenous bird species. One native Aruban bird is the beloved Aruban burrowing owl (Athenecunicularia arubensis) that Arubans call shoco. The other is the beloved Aruban parakeet (Aratinga pertinax arubensis) that Arubans call prikichi.
