The Civil Rights Act of 1964 finally ended the concept of legal racial segregation, and made discrimination a crime in many cases. The major areas it addressed were the right to vote, the integration of public schools, and the right to access to public places (not just public buildings, but also private businesses such as restaurants that are open to the public). It could not mandate the end to discrimination in private clubs and organizations, but many of these eventually changed their policies.

Freedom Riders were a group of northern and southern civil rights activists who sought to end racial segregation on interstate transportation, such as buses. They traveled in buses, blacks and whites together, throughout the South where they met resistance, ridicule and violence - at times, their buses were torched, they were attacked with clubs and generally harrassed.
Free blacks were common in the South, but their rights were restricted by many states' laws. They could generally own land, or even own slaves, though almost none did. They could operate businesses that did not compete with those run by whites, and establish their own social clubs and organizations. In many cases, they could teach their trades but were not allowed to operate schools. Some educated blacks were hired by slaveowners to teach their children or their slaves. The right to vote was almost never extended to free blacks, even when they were property owners -- this was, however, also true in the North, as only 6 states had suffrage for black males at the time of the Civil War.
NO. To like one group of people more than another group of people by dint of their race rather than based on their personal characteristics, behaviors, and values/views is RACISM. It does not matter whether you are prejudiced in favor of Whites against Blacks or prejudiced in favor of Blacks against Whites, these prejudices based on racial lines are socially and morally reprehensible. As Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." This works for any color of skin. Now, it is legally permissible to be a racist of any stripe as long as you do not take adverse action against the race you like less or additional positive actions for the race you prefer. Typically, this issue arises in the economic arena, but it can arise in education, social clubs, or cultural events. However, speech is explicitly protected; racist speech and protest is legally permissible.
Real Madrid's nicknames are Los Blancos(The Whites) and Los Merengues (The Meringues).
The Harlem Renaissance incorporated both jazz and Blues Music, attracting whites to the speakeasies. These clubs were remarkably integrated for the times but unfortunately, the renaissance did little to break down Jim Crow barriers. Whites not only patronized the speakeasies, many wealthy white patrons also supported black artists.
