Disconnect the wires at the starter solenoid. Take note of where they come off so you can put them back on. 4. If there is a brace from the starter to the block remove it. 5. Take out the two bolts that hold the starter in place, pull the starter out of the bell housing. If there are shims between the starter and the bottom of the engine block save them for use with the replacement starter. Reverse the process to install a replacement starter.

the only way i could figure out how to get the starter out was to remove the right engine mount
