Accurate figures are hard to come by. However, figures suggest that between 1969 and mid-2003, by which time the troubles had basically stopped, there were 16,209 bombing incidents, including ones that did not go off and were defused. There were over 10,000 actual explosions, ranging from very minor ones doing no damage or injuries, up to the much larger ones causing severe damage and death.
