One cell (3 jets) of B52's could be 324 750 pound bombs. One cell of F4 Phantoms could be 60 bombs. If only one flight of the above were conducted on one day over Laos, that would equate to 384 bombs dropped in one day.
Americans dropped bombs on Laos. No guerrilla warfare occurred here.
That's probably why the current Viet government restricts tourist travel in the back-country; protection from old ordnance. Just stay where the current government has their tourist routes...and everything should be good. Remember; WWII bombs were dropped all over the world during the war...about 2 1/2 million tons worth. Nearly three times that number of bombs were dropped in Vietnam alone (counting Cambodia/Laos). That's a very heavy concentration of ordnance!
The Japanese occupied French Indochina (now separated into Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia) during the Second World War.
Laos and Cambodia.
Laos may not be as industrialized as Vietnam is; Vietnam learned much from the US.

Cambodia had more bombs dropped on them than Laos during the Vietnam war. North Vietnamese solders would retreat into Cambodia and attack from there. Finally the US bombed North Vietnamese bases in Cambodia. They also established supply bases in Cambodia. Finally the US bombed the supply bases and supply lines into Cambodia.
Vietnam and Laos. Vietnam and Laos. Vietnam and Laos. Vietnam and Laos.

Over 7 million tons of bombs were dropped by the US during the Vietnam War; over 2 million tons were dropped during WW2. NOTE: A US B-17 Flying Fortress over Germany in WW2 carried about 10 airmen and possibly 17 bombs. A US B-52 Stratofortess flying over North Vietnam carried 6 crewmen and could carry 108 750 pound bombs. ONE Vietnam War B-52 was equal to about SIX WW2 B-17s. One F-4 Phantom jet fighter bomber, manned by two crewmen, could carry as many bombs as a WW2 B-17 bomber (with a 10 man crew).
