Another answer that appears to be wildly off the mark. Amazing what a huge variation I'm finding on this one.

The consensus seems to be around the 100 billion mark:

Its different for different people - If you drink aclohol a lot you have less brain cells than the person who is healthy well...on average our brain contains hundred billion brain cells~!! =)

This is because the brain cells get sent to another part of the mind, and retrieving it will take a long time to do so.
