It depends on the creditor/merchant. Most merchants tally up credit/debit card purchases at the end of the business day. The charges then go through the gateway processor for that specific bank or card issuer and then be billed or withdrawn from the purchaser's accounts. Debits are taken out at a faster pace than credit transactions since you are entering your pin number. It goes from the merchant terminal then directly to the bank's ATM debit processing center. These transactions should be no longer than 3 business days, depending on your banks processing time. Some banks have POD processing cut off times, like Wells Fargo.. they work on the next business day at 4PM.

Credits can take up 10 business days, depending on the merchant.
