for an 14 in round cake pan, you only need 1 box
about 1 and a half
4 boxes for a single pan
Most cake mixes are for a 9x13 pan which is 117 sq. inches. 12x12 is 144 sq. inches. 1 mix would be enough and shorten the cooking time by 5 to 8 minutes.
I would use two and a half, but since that's not possible, I would get two and have extra batter. Mind you, no matter what batter, a cake/brownie must be 3/4 of the way full. hope this helped:)

yes, it wont be that tall but it will work ok.
You will need about 1.5 boxed cake mixes, so it is best to prepare 2. Some tall cake pans will require 2 full cake mixes, too.
Many people prefer the taste of "scratch" cakes. There are certainly far more interesting and creative cake recipes than boxed cake mixes. From a health perspective, cake mixes are full of chemicals, colorings and preservatives, making them imitation food at best.

you would need about 4 boxes of cake mix. it only depends on how many layers you are making. that is a basic of 2 layers each.
