For the "average person", according to whoever determined the 2000 calorie a day thing, it's literally impossible. You need to exercise.

If you manage to burn 5000 more calories than you eat in a day (so if you eat 1500 cal a day, burn 6500). You'll lose 5 pounds a week, 20 pounds a month, and 80 in the time frame.

The question is- can you exercise enough to burn off 5000 calories more than you eat a day?
