To gain muscle it is not a matter of calorie consumption, however for the muscle definition to be visible you need a low body fat index. Take into account your body mass index and your basal metabollic rate. Also take into account how physically active you are. It is advised whilst trying to gain muscle to consume larger amounts of protein, and also iron. Complex carbohydrates help with your energry intake. Try and steer clear of sugary, salty and caffienated products if possible.
