An average large egg without a yoke, or about 1 1/2 ounces of egg white, contains about 16 calories. A fried egg white will contain more calories depending on the oil, margarine or butter used. A teaspoon of oil, butter or margarine (not including the light varieties) averages about 40 calories.

Egg whites are quite low in calories, yet are high in protein. A large eggs contains about 17 calories. Extra large eggs add about 2 more. Since eggs whites contain no fat or cholesterol, many people find an egg white omelette is a healthy alternative and a good item after a morning workout to help supply protein to build or maintain muscle mass.

Calories in egg without the yolk

It depends on the size of the egg. For example, in chicken eggs there are:

  • approx 16-17 calories in the egg white of one large egg.

For the calorie content of scrambledeggs, see the page link, further down this page, listed under Related Questions.

That depends on the size of the egg and the size of the yolks.

Here is an example:

  • 216 - 220 calories in 2 yolks from 2 large size eggs
  • 17 calories in the white of 1 large egg
  • so, approx 233 - 237 for a large double yolk egg.
