The only right answer to this is however many your body tells you to eat. If you find yourself gaining weight, determine whether its muscular, skeletal, or fatty. If it's fat, and you want to get rid of it right away, slowly work into an exercise regimen. It's better to err on the side of getting too much nutrition (assuming, of course, that you're eating the right foods) than on getting too little.

I burn around 2200 calories per day because I lead a semi-active lifestyle. Therefore in order to lose weight I must stay between 1200-1800 calories a day.
