Ok, its actually kind of a fun little math problem. 1 lb = 3500 calories (for everyone, it doesnt matter how old you are, how tall you are, how much you currently weigh).

So if you want to lose 10 lbs, you're going to have to burn 35,000 calories.

That means if you get rid of 350 calories a day (either by exercising them off, or eatting 350 calories less than you already are) you'll lose that weight over the course of 100 days (i.e. a little over 3 months).
