European carp
There is no such thing as an Australian introduced species in the Murray River. If it is Australian, it is not introduced. Species which have been introduced from overseas include various species of Carp, Brown and Rainbow trout, Redfin perch and Gambusia. The most prolific of these is the carp.
Carp River Forge was created in 1848.
The introduction of the European carp has caused major problems for the Murray River. Whilst these fish are not dangerous to Australian wildlife, they are bottom-feeders and therefore muddy the waters of the river, as well as uprooting plants along the edges of the water and causing erosion of the riverbanks.

The Murray cod is a fish that only lives in the Murray-Darling River system. Although they are called cod, they aren't related to the northern hemisphere cod. The Murray cod's conservation status is Vulnerable. They are threatened because of previous overfishing, as well as dams, and introduced carp and illnesses.
