This is a person of legal age with a legal permit to operate the vehicle. You will forever be the passenger until you obtain your own permit. At this time, you may also seek to insure yourself as the vehicle's principle driver.

You CAN register a car owned by someone else in some states, but doing so can lead to many problems if the driver gets into trouble and you are registered to the car. Insuring a car you do not own can also lead to problems but many more people do it. (e.g., if your dad is lending you his car and he says that you have to insure it.)
Depends on how many cars the team has, but one driver per team.
The question is, how much money can you afford to SPEND on insurance? Insurance companies are happy to sell more. As many as you own or in some cases, care, custody, and control. Make sure to tell your insurance company all of the people that will be driving your vehicles. You can't insure a vehicle that you do not own or have care, custody, and control of.
