You could, but the check engine light will turn on and the car will not run any better.

Bank1 is the passenger side of the engine in your Lincoln LS ( V6 and V8 ) Sensor 1 would be close to the engine before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
On a 2003 Lincoln LS or Lincoln Town Car : Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine Sensor 1 would be close to the engine BEFORE the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
On a 2002 Lincoln LS , 3.0 liter V6 engine : Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine Sensor 1 would be close to the engine BEFORE the exhaust enters the catalytic converter
On a 2002 Lincoln LS : Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine ( on the 3.0 liter V6 and the 3.9 liter V8 engines ) Sensor 1 is close to the engine BEFORE the exhaust enters the catalytic converter

You will get a Check engine light with a P0420 error code. Mine just went. Check with the dealer they are warranted for for up to 80k mileage.
Just look under the vehicle and count them and you will have your answer.
